Biodiversity and Society

Biodiversity assessment as a form of social learning

Bioblitzes are designed to encourage interaction and knowledge-sharing
between participants. To this end, each bioblitz starts with a welcome function which include
informal talks in which participants share their background and expertise, followed by a talk by the
relevant ecologists in charge of managing the particular site in which they share information about
the site and some of the management challenges they face.

Six rapid biodiversity surveys (“bioblitzes”) have been conducted.
